We looked at generic frontline for Dogs and it seemed that the difference in price was so negligible that it was not worth buying a generic over the frontline for Dogs that we normally use. What has come up is which frontline we should be using.

We have two main choices of frontline for our Dogs, those being frontline topspot and frontline plus. They both treat for fleas and ticks but is there a big difference between the two, and if so what are they, and is it a considerable difference?

Let’s take a look at which one we should be using if we want to treat for fleas and ticks as effectively as possible.

Both frontline medicines will kill adult fleas and will also kill ticks. The frontline will then go on to guard against any new infestations for a minimum of a month. This means that whichever one we use our Dogs will be protected for at least this period of time.

One thing that frontline topspot does not do is kill the fleas in their larval, egg or pupae stage. This means that although it will kill any adult fleas it is not so effective at getting rid of the fleas at their juvenile stages. Once they have grown they will be killed but we will not be destroying the life-cycle.

The cycle will keep perpetuating and we will always need to treat to guard against fleas.

Frontline plus on the other hand contains an extra active ingredient. (S) – methoprene is now included in frontline plus for Dogs. This eradicates fleas in the early stages when they are still eggs, larva or pupae.

By killing the young like this it is much more effective at breaking the cycle of the flea. If we can get rid of the young then there will be no adults and this will see a very marked reduction in the number of fleas our Dogs will get.

This may eventually lead to us not needing to treat for fleas on such a regular basis. As well as this it will also guard against mites so we have an added incentive to use frontline plus.

As we can effectively break the life-cycle it may mean that we either do not need to treat for fleas at all for some time or at the very least we may be able to extend the period between applying the frontline medication.

It is for these reasons that frontline plus is now recommended as being a much more effective flea control.

If you use frontline for Dogs then this is probably the best of the two products to use.

Frontline for Dogs performs a number of very important roles when it comes to looking after our Dogs. As well as being your source for frontline medication at the lowest prices on the Internet I also want to be able to provide you with information about what exactly frontline medicine is.

Whether or not this is the first time you have visited this frontline medicine site you will soon realise that if you make a purchase that we have very cheap frontline for Dogs. Check out our prices and you will not be disappointed. That being said I am sure you would like a little more information on how frontline actually works.

It is a fairly involved process but I will try to keep the explanation fairly short and easy to follow. Firstly you must ensure that you squeeze the contents on to your Dogs skin. This is how it works properly and you must always apply it in this manner. After the application the discount frontline that you can purchase here works in the following manner:

The frontline medication begins to dissolve in to the fatty structure of the skin of our Dogs. It then begins to spread around the Dogs body away from where we have applied it.

The movement of the Dog as it plays or gets taken for a walk will help to spread the cheap frontline evenly and quickly. It is the sebum which is secreted from the sebaceous glands that actually then secretes the active ingredients to the hair and the fur. It is not the same if you simply apply to the fur, it must occur in this way for it to work effectively.

This is an ongoing process that last anywhere form 4-6 weeks but quite often for much longer. It is a quite involved process really but fascinating all the same. The secretion of the frontline can last for a surprisingly long time and you should never re-apply it within the timeframe of a month. This will do no good and may harm your Dog.

To ensure that you get as effective a treatment as possible keep your Dog dry for a day after the application. The frontline for Dogs needs time to be spread evenly through the body so it is working at its full potential.

Hopefully htis has given a better insight in to how frotnline medication for Dogs actually works. We do not need to know these things but I feel it gives us a better understanding of how flea and tick treatments work and can actually set our minds at ease about using these type of products on our Dogs.

After the cheap frontline for Dogs post I wanted to take a look at what other options there are apart from frontline when we want to stop ticks and fleas from attacking our Dogs. I decided to take a look at generic Frontline Plus for Dogs.

UPDATE: At the moment K9 Advantix has a generic version available. It treats for fleas and stops ticks on Dogs and also guards against mosquitoes. Prices are only $34 for a large Dog for six months of generic Advantix. As it is simply so cheap so you may be interested in this. There is no real generic Frontline Plus alternative at this low price so we really do recommend it.

Read about K9 Advantix here

My sponsor here at frontline for Dogs has the best prices online for frontline medicine and there are massive savings to be made by using them. I was just curious if there is an even cheaper alternative to frontline. I have done some considerable searching and I found it is not really the case. There are places where you may just purchase the active ingredient but this is really not very safe in my opinion.

You have to measure out the exact quantity yourself and this could put your Dog at risk if you get the quantity wrong. As far as price goes there seems to be a negligible saving. If you purchase six months worth of frontline medicine then you will be paying about the same for the real thing as you would for a generic.

What is as important as getting good quality frontline is the fact that the generics only contain one of the two active ingredients in Frontline. This means it simply will not be as effective at getting rid of the ticks and fleas. Frontline plus contains fipronil and methoprene while a generic source of discount frontline will only supply you with fipronil. This means you will get nowhere near the same results.

Why Not To Buy Generic Frontline For Dogs

Frontline plus works by killing fleas and ticks and stopping re-infestation for up to six weeks. It also prevents the development of flea eggs, larvae and pupae that may have been produced by adult fleas for the same amount of time. A generic will not perform the latter part as you will not be getting the active ingredient.

In effect this means that there is a much higher likelihood of your Dog becoming infested with fleas before it is time for the next treatment. This is less than optimal. I would always advise using the best quality products as you want to ensure that the treatment works effectively. If you want to save a littel money then you can but it is so negligible that there is little point. Especially when it means your Dog will not be properly protected, which is the whole point of applying frontline for Dogs in the first place.

All the resources on this site take you to the cheapest place online, and that is guaranteed. You will not find a better source of discount frontline anywhere so there is little saving to be made by purchasing a product that will not perform as well. I have spent an awful lot of my time investigating this topic so I really do know the best sources for all pets medicines. Buy quality products and ensure that your Dog really will stay flea and tick free from treatment to treatment.

You will also find that if you simply purchase the active ingredient you may have to apply at least every thirty days rather than probably every six weeks with frontline for Dogs. This equates to the savings seming even less likely. Frontline really is the best way to protect your Dog. If you feel that you do not need any flea protection then it may be a cheaper solution but for the minimal savings I personally do not advocate generic frontline for Dogs.

There is certainly no doubt that finding sources of cheap frontline for Dogs can take an excruciatingly long time. I have had Dogs for years and it has only been recently that I decided enough is enough. I was tired of paying what seemed to be a fortune for my pet meds from the local vets so now you can get the cheapest frontline prices possible.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that they have overheads to consider but money is tight and I need a source of discounted frontline to guard against ticks and fleas. Thus began a rather epic quest that took me days to complete. I went through literally hundreds of online stores to find the best prices for frontline medicine that I could possibly find. It was not fun I can tell you that. If you have found this site then I guess you know what it feels like to search and search for something online.

Eventually I did find a very cheap source for frontline for Dogs so I thought I would hopefully save you some time and let you know who it is. The site is called Amazon which may surprise you but they really do have the best prices for nearly all pet medications online. They are certainly the cheapest by at least $20 if not nearly $30 when it comes to frontline medicine.

This is what I really struggled with. I just could not understand the vast difference in the prices from one site to the next. The really big pet medicine companies, you know, the ones on page one of the search engines, were all nearly the same price as from the vets. I soon came to realise why they were so expensive. Because they do so well in the search engines they do not need to offer competitive prices. So many people find them, and I am talking about millions every month, that they will get the business no matter what price they charge. People assume the prices for the frontline medicine are good because they are such big stores.

What I eventually found was a very reliable and trusted supplier who actually sells at good prices. You can see the price comparison to the right hands side. It’s pretty shocking isn’t it? You would think that the most well know pet medicine sites could do a little better than that.

This is why it pays to do a little searching before you just assume that they have the best prices for frontline medicine for Dogs. There are certainly some very large savings to be made and not just on frontline medicine either.

As well as them being the cheapest source they also offer free shipping quite often. For all other meds the best source is the online pet meds site. I think it is probably worth spending that much if you think that you will be making any other online purchases for frontline or other pet medicines in that time frame. They also sell heartworm medicine without the need for a prescription which is very difficult to find. That will save an awful lot of time and again they have very good prices.

What I also like to do is to make bulk purchase if funds will allow. Getting a 6 or even 12 month frontline medicine pack means that I won’t run out and also it works out even cheaper. No wasteful packaging. It is always good to save money and be a bit eco friendly at the same time.

I hope that this first post here at frontline for Dogs has been helpful. I will be covering lots more topics around frontline, not just cheap frontline for Dogs.
